The title of this study is “The Use of Figurative Language in Song Lyric of Paramore’s album Brand New Eyes”. It is aimed at finding out four types of figurative language and analyze as the meanings. The function of figurative language is a special way the song writer conveys his experiences or imagination in order to give a fantastic feeling to someone who listen or reads the lyric of this song. The song lyric from Paramore’s album Brand New Eyes are the source of the data, it has been collecting by downloading the lyric before being identified into figurative language. After the identification of the data has been finished then it is analyzed by implementing the qualitatively method describing which words are considered as figurative language based on the theory of figurative language proposed by Knickerbocker and Willard Reninger (1963). And olso there are seven types of meaning proposed by Leech analyze in this study. After the data has been analyzed and discussed, it can be concluded the there are four types of figurative language employed in the lyric of the five songs they are: hyperbole, metaphor, personification, simile. Beside that there are seven types of meaning that analyzed in this study they are: conceptual meaning, connotative meaning, stylistic meaning, affective meaning, collocative meaning, thematic meaning.
