Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui waktu yang tepat melakukan inseminasi buatan (IB) dan kadar progesteron pada sapi bali bunting. Rancangan yang digunakan untuk menentukan saat IB terbaik adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL). Penelitian ini terdiri dari tiga kelompok perlakuan yaitu kelompok I, sapi di IB 0 jam (saat estrus), kelompok II, sapi di IB 12 jam setelah estrus dan kelompok III, sapi di IB 24 jam setelah estrus, dan masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari 5 kali ulangan. Pengamatan estrus dilakukan 2 kali sehari yaitu pagi hari (jam 6.00-8.00 wita) dan sore hari (jam 16.00-18.00 wita) yang ditandai dengan keluarnya leleran transfaran dari vagina. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persentase kebuntingan tertinggi pada sapi bali dengan waktu IB 24 jam setelah estrus (100%), namun secara statistik tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang nyata (P > 0,05) dengan yang di IB 12 jam (75%) setelah estrus, sedangkan sapi yang di IB saat estrus, tidak ada yang bunting (0%). Kadar progesteron pada sapi bali bunting meningkat sejalan dengan umur kebuntingan yaitu 15,43±0,50 ng/mL pada umur kebuntingan 30 hari, 17,16±0,34 ng/mL pada umur kebuntingan 60 hari dan 20,78±0,59 ng/mL pada umur kebuntingan 90 hari. Simpulan bahwa waktu IB terbaik adalah 24 jam setelah estrus dan kadar progesteron meningkat pada sapi bali sejalan dengan umur kebuntingan. Kata-kata kunci; inseminasi buatan, progesteron, diagnosa kebuntingan, sapi bali ABSTRACT This study aims were to determine the proper time for insemination and the progesterone level of pregnant Bali cattle. Complete randomized design method was used in this study. The study consisted of three treatment groups i.e. Group I, animals were inseminated at 0 hour (on estrus), group II, inseminated at 12 h post-estrus and group III inseminated at 24 h post-estrus. Estrus was observed two times a day ie. in the morning (6:00 to 8:00 am) and afternoon (16:00 to 18:00 pm) which was characterized by transparent vaginal discharge. The results showed that the highest percentage of pregnancy occurred when the cattle were inseminated at 24 h post-estrus (100%), however, statistically this was not significant different (P> 0.05) to animals that were inseminated at 12 h post-estrus (75%). Moreover, no pregnancy (0%) was observed in cattle that were inseminated at estrus. The progesterone level of pregnant bali cattle increased as the period of gestation increased, being 15.43 ± 0.50 ng/mL at 30 days of gestation, 17.16 ± 0.34 ng/mL at 60 days of gestation and 20.78 ± 0.59 ng/mL at 90 days of gestation. In conclusion, the best time for insemination in Bali cattle is at 24 h post-estrus and progesterone level seems to increase as the older the gestation period.
