Abstract

In a recent letter [Appl. Phys. Lett. 86, 213506 (2005)], Nakanotani et al. reported the
observation of a new phenomenon, termed singlet-heat annihilation (SHA), in organic light-
emitting devices (OLED). It was discovered that the OLED performance was dependent on
the substrate being used. For a device with a better heat-release substrate (sapphire), the
roll-off efficiency was better than a device with a substrate with less heat-release capability
(glass).
